About

Background

The HRC was initiated in Early 2017 under the leadership of Dr. Penny Gurstein, Professor Emeritus at the UBC School of Community and Regional Planning. Consensus has been building across Canada and beyond that, an effective response to the need for affordable housing requires a multi-sectoral approach, including all levels of Government, the For-Profit and Non-profit sectors, and community involvement.

The goal of the Housing Research Collaborative, a community of housing providers and housing research professionals from many sectors, is to further our understanding and contribute to policy development on comprehensive affordable housing strategies to meet the need for affordable housing along the spectrum from the homeless to middle-income households.

 

How we work

The work of the Housing Research Collaborative is guided by an advisory group that includes academic researchers from diverse disciplines, private sector housing providers, non-profit housing providers, and housing and data professionals in all three levels of government.
