Many member municipalities in Metro Vancouver have adopted tenant relocation policies (TRPs) in addition to the provincial Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) to strengthen tenant protection against displacement caused by redevelopment. There is presently no regional standard for tenant relocation policies in Metro Vancouver, and municipalities have adopted tenant protections that reflect local conditions and concerns. This report contains an up-to-date inventory of TRPs across the Metro Vancouver region, gathered through policy research and interviews with housing and planning professionals. It includes a summary of lessons learned and recommendations for future policy development.
